Fin

Well my loyal readers, this is it. My final Blogger entry.

I've decided to uproot my life from one country to another, and in doing so decided to also move my blog elsewhere. Here, to be precise. Yes, Livejournal it is! After a spate of nasty problems with Blogger, and idling over the idea for many months I have finally decided to make the move permanent.

So who's coming with me?

I'm not going to go into the whys and wherefores, although some of them have been posted over on my new blog in todays entry.

If you decide not to continue to read my blog that's fine, but it'd be great if you would. Also I'd really appreciate it if anyone who has this blog listed in their links could update their blogs accordingly.

The journey does continue...just not here.

Thanks to everyone who bothered to read this lowly blog.

Am I a Blog of Note?

Has anyone ever been featured in that "Blogs of Note" section you see when you login to Blogger? How do you get yourself on there? Not that I consider my blog to be "all that" but I just wondered. I never look at any of the blogs listed there anyway.

Yesterday was probably the hottest day we've had since we moved here. I like it but then I have an air conditioned house to protect me from the worst of the heat for most of the time. Nevertheless the fine weather really does improve my mental well being.

Last night I finally got around to applying for a few jobs. Nothing spectacular but we'll keep looking and see what pans out. Martha has an interview today but we're neither of us sure if it's a terribly genuine lead for her.

Not much else is new otherwise.

Two posts in one day!

No, do not adjust your sets! I really am doing another post tonight!

It's late but I got kind of carried away with being on the computer tonight - I've been listening to music in iTunes and generally catching up on blogs - it's been fun.

I have now listened to all of "Black Holes and Revelations" which is mostly fab! I reckon there's about half a dozen tracks I really like out of a total of 11, so not at all bad going!

I'm also listening to Pet Shop Boys "Fundamental" - but properly for the first time. This is because I've only ever been able to listen to it in my car up until now - I'd never actually donned headphones and properly listened to it...and what a difference! It's a totally different album - I'm hearing stuff I never heard before. Just bloody fantastic!

Also, I've spent some time updating my blog with new links which are long overdue. I've updated Angry Robot who is now over on Livejournal - take a look at it! Also in my links are links to the Firefly and Doctor Who official websites. It's not that I look at them often but I feel that they are important enough to be there.

There are a few more links and blogs I should add to my list but right now it's late and I don't have the inclination.

Also, as a bit of a heads up for all of you, I am now seriously thinking of getting my teeth into resurrecting my Livejournal blog. If you've not seen it yet, head over to here. There's not much to see although I've been posting the occasional update and have pretty much decided that if I can get it to do all the things I want it to do, I'll be transferring my blog to it in the near future.

I know I've said that before, and it never quite happened, but this time I have a feeling it very well might. Anyway, I'll keep y'all posted!

Is anyone still reading this?

OK, it's catch up time!

It's been a busy social week so no time for any sensible blogging but I hope to put down something of substance tonight.

Last weekend we went to the local fair with Audrey and her cousins. We watched the parade in the blistering heat, and headed on to the fairground to find some suitable attractions for toddlers. It was actually a lot of fun, mainly because the kids were having a blast, but Martha bumped into a few people she hadn't seen in a dogs age and was able to do some catching up. The children got to stay up way later than they normally would and were high on sweet foods for ages, before we managed to persuade them to go to bed. Lucky for us we didn't have to go anywhere next morning!

On Sunday we shipped ourselves off to Martha's sister's for her daughters' birthday party. That was fun, and we got to hang out with some of my brother-in-laws siblings who we've either not met at all or seen in a long time. The following day we had a lazy morning and after lunch headed off to the water park in town. I never knew you could have so much fun for $1.75! We all got our swimwear on, cooled down and had a lot of fun. Afterwards we munched ice-creams in the park before heading home.

For supper we got in the cars and headed out to Chuck E Cheese. Hmm. Now THAT was an experience! Well, the kids really enjoyed it of course, so I guess that's the main thing - Martha and I hogged this firefighting video game for a good while though which was pretty neat - we finished it in fact, so we can't have been that bad at it...unfortunately we didn't get any tickets from it though, otherwise we may very well have cleaned up on prizes later on. Once again it was another late night for the children.

Today we headed up to a town called Fergus. Mainly just to see what it was like, and to see if it had potential as somewhere to move to. It's a very pretty town, openly proud of its Scottish roots, and has a mad geriatric man who doesn't look in his rearview mirror when he reverses in his car. Yes, we very nearly got our new car smucked today! Anyway, that little mishap aside it is a really beautiful area, and I could well imagine us going back if only to walk the trails.

After that we had a spot of lunch and headed home. We again went off the beaten track to see if there were any nice towns or villages and it was rather pleasant but took longer than it probably would normally.

Anyway, that's the condensed version of the last few days. Oh and as an aside, Martha just bought the new CD by the band Muse called "Black Holes and Revelations". I've not heard it all the way through yet but so far it's bloody good. I've never really been into Muse, but I have to say there are some stonking tracks on this album. I can only think of it as some sort of rocked out crazy mix of Queen, New Order and Pet Shop Boys. It's VERY rock and my initial reaction was that it sounded like Queen (and I don't mean in a "The Darkness sounds like Queen" way thank goodness!). Top stuff anyway!

Screw you guys, I'm goin' home!

Inspired by Sammykate's South Park rendering of Green Day, I thought I'd have a go with my personal musical favourites. I wanted to add a keyboard in there somewhere but my Photoshop skills just aren't up to the job.

Update me, update me!

I know it's been a while since I updated. Life just isn't allowing me the time to blog lately.

This time it's visitors. My sister-in-law and her two daughters have been up this week and staying with us and we have put up makeshift beds in the living room which means no nighttime access to the computers...hence no blogging or job searching.

Also this weekend we will be with them for a few days, so come Tuesday things might be back to normal...

Martha and I are also working on a solution where we hook up both Macs in a sort of makeshift network so we can possibly both surf at the same time. Yes, it'll be hellishly slow, but it's better than nothing.

Not much is new anyway so I doubt very much you'll get anything of substance from me until life becomes a little more settled regarding jobs and the like.

On the plus side, it would appear I have ordered tickets for the Pet Shop Boys concert in Toronto this coming October. That should be fun, but have yet to see the tickets which cost me somewhat more than I expected. Just feeling a little nervous about that!

Well, I need to get on! Over and out!

Maximum Warp Mister Sulu!

Well, not quite. We're not quite running on all thrusters yet, but we do finally have our own access to the internet, albeit a dial-up connection. At least it's at home and we're back on the Mac, so there's an air of familiarity to it all, and you never know, I might start browsing blogs again soon.

I've decided not to bother looking back at old entries though - I'll simply be here all year reading back on what you've all been up to. Doubtless I've missed a lot, but never mind, I'll just have to live with that.

We've also signed up to Skype and have a swanky phone for it too. Not really tried it out properly yet since we don't really know anyone who uses it, and with dial-up it doesn't work as well I hear. However, if it works OK it should make calling the folks back home much cheaper, and hopefully they'll sign up to it too so we can call for free.

Pretty much everything is in order now. Once we find jobs that'll be that and we can start to think about settling down properly. It's been nice to have an extended holiday, but the money, whilst not exactly running out, gets whittled away and you wish you weren't eating into your savings.

Martha's uncle was the person selling the car on behalf of a guy who he has power of attorney over. This poor chap is now sadly in a home and Martha's uncle has the unfortunate task of selling off his stuff. Luckily for us he had a car that he needed to sell and it was going for much less than any listed price we saw for the same. It also had very low mileage for its age, so we had a look and decided it would make a good first car without breaking the bank at Monte Carlo. As I said before, far from our first choice, but for now it's all good.

Otherwise very little has been going on. Most days we're interchanging between playing with Audrey, tarting up the house, making food, doing a few chores, grocery shopping, and generally mincing around. Today I was out in the field flying my kite, before I realised the sun was a bit hot and I was probably getting sunburn, and decided it was a better idea to get inside with the aircon instead.

Now I'm up and running I promise I'll get around to emailing all of you that I should be emailing. Some of you I already have done so, but hopefully things will improve a bit now and I get get around to emailing everyone. Might even squeeze in some time to IM!

A quick public thankyou to Garry for the Dr.Who episodes! Martha and I watched them all and thoroughly enjoyed them! Any chance you can do that for the upcoming Christmas episode too???!

Anyway, that people is my lot for tonight! I can't promise regular blogs still, but they should be more frequent now.

I'm still rolling along...

Yes, I am still alive - again.

It's been quite a busy week and with little or no internet access there simply hasn't been time to visit anyones blogs and no time to write anything for myself. It's a shame really because I have a lot to say too!

Southern Sweetheart - hopefully that answers your question. I would have emailed you but I lost your email address and there's a ton of addresses I keep meaning to transfer across from our computer and never do find the time...I know it's in there somewhere. Drop me an email (gavin_kagan@yahoo.co.uk) and I guarantee I'll reply! That pretty much goes for anyone reading this!

We finally bought a car. Long story which I'd love to tell you but don't have time, but it's a 2002 Chrysler Sebring - not even remotely our first choice of car, but if you heard the story you'd realise why we bought it.

Still no jobs, but internet access would help in that regard. I simply don't have the time while using my father-in-laws computer! Hopefully next week we'll be fully up and running.

It's taken a while, but we're getting there!

Over and out!
